The Havasu Foundation for Higher Education was established as a non-profit 501(c) (3) corporation on March 29, 2004 by a group of Lake Havasu City citizens who are concerned about the future of higher education in our community.
The
HFHE began recruiting members in May and elected a Board of Directors at the first membership meeting on June 15, 2004.
By mid-July over 700 individuals had signed up as
HFHE members. Membership in the
HFHE is free for 2004 and is open to all those interested in furthering the opportunities for higher education in Lake Havasu City and Mohave County.
The HFHE mission statement adopted by the Board of Directors on June 23, 2004 addresses the Foundation's purpose and goals.
- The Mission of the Havasu Foundation for Higher Education (HFHE) is to work for and promote programs, endeavors, and institutions that can bring post-high school educational opportunities to the Lake Havasu area. - In addition, the HFHE will work to insure that the community college offerings match the true educational needs of Lake Havasu City.
- To achieve these ends, the foundation will work to acquire land, raise funds, maintain a strong representative board, and regularly communicate to the public its progress in accomplishing its goals.
