Mission Statement
HFHE’s mission is to foster succes of the Arizona State Univeresity Colleges at Lake Havasu City, its expansion, welfare, and the continuation of university education to benefit our region.
The Havasu Foundation for Higher Education was incorporated as a non-profit Arizona corporation on March 29, 2004 by Dr. Bill Ullery. He was joined by a group of Lake Havasu City community leaders who were concerned about the future of higher education in our community.
This “founders” group began accepting members in May and elected a Board of Directors and officers at the first membership meeting on June 15, 2004. The incorporation documents and the minutes of those early meetings are on the HFHE website.
HFHE achieved its IRS 501 (c)3 tax exempt status on November 14, 2005; ID# 20-1114024, DLN 17053035013005, Public Charity Status 170(b) (1) (A) (vi).
By 2009, nearly 1,900 individuals had become HFHE members and another approximately 1,000 joined early 2011.
Membership is free. However, sustaining Members may vote at general meetings. A Sustaining Member is one who donates at least $25 per year to the Foundation annually.
